Mr. Chris Jacobs, CEO

Chris has been an active member of the behavioral health field for over 20 years. He originally started working on the Behavioral Health unit with Peachford Hospital in Atlanta, and Summit Ridge in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Chris founded BRO on the belief that people in recovery can truly thrive in a clean, sober, safe, and supportive environment. At the core of the program are his strengths of a compassionate heart, belief in transformation, perception, coupled with his understanding of the disease of addiction and commitment to the recovery community. Chris invites individuals and families to surrender and “Trust In the Process” of recovery.

Chris is involved with several communities and charitable organizations as well as professional entities. He also participates annually with organizations such as the Boy’s and Girls Club with Toys for Tots at Christmas, “Chris’s Closet and a Coat Drive for the homeless, and with local elementary schools “Back to School Supplies drive.”

Prior to establishing Breakthrough Recovery Outreach, Chris attended the University of Southwest Louisiana, where he majored in Criminal Justice and minored in Sociology. While at USL, he played linebacker for the Ragin’ Cajuns. He also enjoyed a brief stint of playing professionally in the Canadian Football League. Chris is a proud member of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.

Olu Osaba, MD, Medical Director

Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and NeurologyDr. Osoba received his medical degree from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He completed his psychiatric residency at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit Michigan and his child and adolescent psychiatric fellowship at The Johns Hopkins Medical Institute, Baltimore, Maryland.

 

Dr. Osoba has been the Medical Director in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and held the position of Attending Physician and Outpatient Service Supervisor for the Henry Ford Health System. He is board-certified in adult, child, and adolescent psychiatry.

Dr. Osoba is a member of the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Mr. Nadim S. Ali, Tai Chi Instructor, LPC

Nadim S. Ali is a therapist and consultant in Atlanta, where he counsels, teaches Violence Prevention, and Tai Chi. He has been actively involved in educating individuals about the dangers of substance abuse and has counseled both adolescents and adult patients. Mr. Ali has worked in all facets of addiction treatment from detox to outpatient and aftercare and has trained counselors in the USA and in Saudi Arabia. In the two years that he spent in Saudi Arabia as the Director of the Chemical Dependency Unit he was able to establish the first counselor program in the history of Saudi Arabia for Arabic speaking counselors and participated in the development of a training manual that is still in use in that country to help train to recover people to be counselors. He uses alternative methods such as Tai Chi, the ancient Chinese slow-motion exercise, as an intervention for the treatment of addiction and anger management. He is certified by the Tai Chi Health Society as an Instructor. He has been a practitioner since 1977

Jean W Thelemaque Jr, Therapist, MA, LPC, NCC

Jean W. Thelemaque Jr. was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, in a large Haitian family. He has a background in business which permits him the ability to provide a multi-cultural flair and understanding when working with clients from diverse backgrounds.

Mr. Thelemaque’s eclectic therapeutic style is results-driven and provides honest engagement in any individual and or group session. He also believes in taking a holistic approach when working with clients, emphasizing the importance of not only addressing mental and emotional concerns but, paying close attention to one’s physical and spiritual states as well.

Mr. Thelemaque holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Finance from CUNY, Brooklyn College, and a Masters of Art in Professional Counseling from Richmont Graduate University and is a proud member of Phi Theta Kappa.

Sarah Welch, Acupuncturist

Sarah Welch is an acupuncturist and herbalist who is licensed to practice in Georgia and board-certified in Oriental Medicine by the NCCAOM. She received her Master’s in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts in Asheville, NC, a 4-year program that includes acupuncture, herbal medicine, biomedicine, and qi gong. Sarah has been practicing in the Atlanta area since 2012.

With each of her patients, her goal is to achieve balance and heal the whole body on a physical, emotional, and energetic level for long-term success. She is a compassionate listener and she understands that symptoms like anxiety, insomnia, and pain are the body’s way of expressing imbalance, and these symptoms are unique and individual to everyone. She has worked with many patients over the years to help them cultivate energy, improve a sense of wellbeing, and meet their health goals.

Cyrus Nahai, Therapist, Family Programs Instructor, M.A., ICAADC, DBT Trained

Cyrus Nahai is an ICAADC (International Certified Advanced Alcohol & Drug Counselor). Mr. Nahai holds a B.A. in Psychology from Emory University and an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. Mr. Nahai enjoys working with families and specializes in the assessment, education, and treatment of depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use/chemical addictions, hypersexual behavior & intimacy disorders. He is culturally sensitive and believes in an integrative approach to treatment with an emphasis on CBT, DBT, and interpersonal neurobiology.

Diane D’Agnese Sabin, Recreation Therapist

Diane D’Agnese Sabin has practiced Recreation Therapy for over 3 decades. The bulk of her experience has been working in various Psychiatric and Substance Abuse Facilities with both adults and adolescents suffering from dual diagnosis and co-occurring disorders. Diane witnessed countless instances when the power of positive recreation helped transform someone’s life–even if they were just meaningful teaching moments. In fact, she facilitates many interactive group activities at Breakthrough Recovery related to substance abuse to help rebuild skills, improve mood, boost the quality of life, and strengthen social connections. When asked why she chose to become a Recreation Therapist, Diane replied, “I chose this field because it feeds my soul”. She uses her passion to inspire individuals and help reduce their depression, stress, and anxiety. Diane prides herself on staying knowledgeable about all the current health and wellness trends. In her leisure time, Diane enjoys camping, paddle boarding, swimming, reading, tennis, and taking road trips in her recreational vehicle with her family.

Diane has been a dedicated Recreation Therapist with Breakthrough Recovery Outreach, LLC for over 5 years. Additionally, she facilitates focus groups and training throughout the Metro Atlanta Area with emphasis on assertiveness, stress management, self-awareness, art, reminiscing activities, leisure counseling, and sensory integration.
